"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." — Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Good morning and happy Monday! God spoke these words to Joshua as he stood on the edge of the Promised Land — a massive, daunting assignment ahead of him, and Moses, his mentor, gone. If anyone had reason to feel afraid, it was Joshua. And yet God’s command was clear: be strong and courageous.

Notice that God doesn’t say “don’t be afraid because it will be easy.” He says don’t be afraid because I will be with you wherever you go. The courage He calls us to isn’t the absence of fear — it’s the decision to move forward anyway, anchored in the promise of His presence.

What’s your “Promised Land” this week? What feels too big, too uncertain, too daunting? Take this command with you: be strong and courageous. Not because you have it all figured out — but because He goes with you.

Lord, I choose courage today. Where I feel afraid or discouraged, remind me that You are with me. I don’t have to have it all figured out — I just have to trust You and take the next step. Amen.
