Good morning! Joy and happiness are not the same thing. Happiness depends on circumstances — it comes and goes with the weather of life. But joy? Joy is something deeper. It’s rooted not in what’s happening around you, but in who God is and what He’s done.

Nehemiah spoke these words to a people who were weeping — overwhelmed by their failures and the weight of their past. And into that grief, he spoke this truth: the joy of the Lord is your strength. Not your own joy. Not manufactured positivity. The joy that comes from knowing God — that’s what gives you the strength to keep going.

On the days when you don’t feel joyful, you can still draw on His joy. It’s not a feeling you have to conjure up — it’s a gift you receive. Ask Him for it this morning. Let it be the fuel that carries you through your day.
